目录描述: This course is designed for business majors and those wanting a thorough knowledge of spreadsheets and databases. Students will use the current version of Microsoft Excel and Access. The course will cover introductory to intermediate database and spreadsheet concepts. Students will complete an integrated project using both applications to summarize data that can be analyzed to make decisions. To be successful in the class, students should have a basic understanding of computer applications and file management. BUS 1020 is recommended as a prerequisite. Successful mastery of BUS 2010 and CS 1520 will qualify you for the 雪的大学 'Foundations of Data Analysis' internal certificate. (Additional fee required)

的理由: This course is required for the ASB and prepares students for job readiness and/or transfer to a university. The course meets the requirements as agreed upon by the UBAAN state committee (articulation committee for the ASB) and is accepted at many state institutions.




Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will use a variety of spreadsheet and database features to effectively organize and manage data. Students will be assessed through hands-on training, assignments, exams, and/or projects. Feedback is provided through an online skills assessment manager and/or rubrics and instructor comments.

Students will use formulas and functions in database and spreadsheet software for efficiency and accuracy in summarizing data.  Students will be assessed through hands-on training, assignments, exams, and/or projects. Feedback is provided through an online skills assessment manager and/or rubrics and instructor comments.

Students will perform appropriate analyses of quantitative and qualitative data using spreadsheet and database software. Students will be assessed through hands-on training, assignments, exams, and/or projects. Feedback is provided through an online skills assessment manager and/or rubrics and instructor comments.

Students will use spreadsheet and database features to complete an integrated project and deliver quality documents using professional standards. Students will be assessed through projects and/or a signature project and reflection. Feedback is provided through rubrics and instructor comments.

Student performance is assessed in the following areas:

Capstone Projects and Exams 30 to 50%

Representative Text and/or Supplies:
Cengage Microsoft Office, New Perspective Series for Excel and Access, current edition or equivalent text(s); Cengage SAM (Skills Assessment Manager) - an online training resource. SAM provides instant feedback and simulates the MS Office environment. (current version or equivalent)
